SNOQUALMIE, WA – Snoqualmie Valley Health is proud to recognize Tia Taitano, RN, as a recipient of The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses. This prestigious recognition, presented by the DAISY Foundation, celebrates nurses whose clinical skill and compassion make a lasting impact on the patients and families they serve.

The following is an excerpt from Tia’s DAISY award nomination submitted by a patient:

“On the first day she treated me, she swooped down, like a hawk, on my leg wounds with conviction and authority. This gave me the confidence that I was finally with someone who not only knew what they were doing, but that cared about what they were doing. Although some of my treatment has been painful and uncomfortable, I always look forward to seeing her. I have no doubt that if I had continued down the path of my previous provider, I would now be dead due to the seriousness of my wounds. I can say with confidence that she saved my life by caring about me, and a genuine commitment to helping people get better. When I have questions or concerns, she talks to me and explains so I understand. I don’t often endorse anything or anyone, but I can wholeheartedly endorse Tia.”

Snoqualmie Valley Health is proud to recognize Tia for her exceptional care and the meaningful impact she makes in the lives of our patients.

“At SVH, we believe that meaningful recognition is not just a gesture, but a vital part of honoring the heart and soul of nursing,” said Tricia Ralston, Chief Nursing Executive at Snoqualmie Valley Health. “Our nurses show up every day with compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication. It’s essential that we celebrate their impact. I’m incredibly proud to recognize our DAISY Award winner, Tia, whose exceptional expertise in wound care and patient-centered approach exemplify the very best of our profession.”

Ralston continued, “We also celebrate our outstanding DAISY nominees—Jenn Krueger, Cheryl Carlson, Nicole Reid, Callie Neds, and Catherine Schwarzhans—each of whom brings excellence, empathy, and commitment to every patient interaction. Their stories inspire us all and remind us why nursing is truly a calling.”

The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization based in Glen Ellen, California, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away at age 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The compassion and expert care Patrick received from nurses during his illness inspired his family to create the DAISY Award program as a way to say thank you to nurses everywhere.

Today, over 4,600 healthcare facilities and nursing schools around the world celebrate nurses through the DAISY Award program. In addition to recognizing direct care nurses, the Foundation honors nurse-led teams, nurse leaders, educators, students, and those advancing health equity through various grants and awards.
